33 pages, published in Issue 33, 2016
Report price: Euro 470.00; US $ 615.00

This report provides vital data and analysis of trends in the US clothing import market. The report also focuses in detail on clothing imports into the USA from ten key supplying countries, namely Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, El Salvador, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. In 2015 US clothing imports reached a record high in value and also in volume. The average price of US clothing imports fell for the fourth consecutive year to its third lowest level since 2005, aided by noticeable declines in raw material costs and crude oil prices in the second half of 2014. China remained the USA's largest clothing supplier in 2015. However, US clothing imports from China rose only modestly in value and volume and China's share of US imports from all sources declined. Imports from Cambodia, El Salvador, Honduras and Indonesia also rose only modestly in value and volume while imports from Mexico declined in value and volume and all five countries lost market share. US imports from Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Vietnam, on the other hand, grew substantially in value and volume and all four countries gained market share. In the first eight months of 2016, US clothing imports declined in value and volume compared with the corresponding period a year earlier while the average import price fell to its third lowest level on record.
