Textiles Intelligence will attend the Textile Institute Centenary Conference in Manchester, UK

The Textile Institute turns 100 in 2010, and you are invited to join in celebrating this magnificent milestone in the Institute's history by attending the Centenary Conference in Manchester.

The full oral programme for the Centenary Conference is now available on line at www.tiworldconference.org/conference/programme and speakers at the event, include:

  • Professor Xiao-ming Tao, Head of Institute of Textiles and Clothing, Hong Kong Polytechnic University
  • Lord Mervyn Davies, partner and Vice Chairman, Corsair Capital
  • Ashroff Omar, CEO, Brandix Lanka Ltd
  • Andy Rubin, CEO, Pentland Group Ltd

The first afternoon of the conference will concentrate on three key areas: sustainability; technical textiles; and design, fashion and footwear.

The second day will have presentations covering: product and materials innovation; healthcare and medical textiles; marketing and management; education and training; smart fabrics and wearable technologies; clothing manufacturing; quality control and testing; future trends and visions; personal protective equipment; composites; natural fibres and products; and dyeing, finishing and printing.

Guests at the conference will also have the opportunity to attend outstanding social events, including a very special Awards and Centenary Dinner, taking place at one of Manchester's fantastic architectural masterpieces, The Monastery, and a special closing ceremony party, sponsored by Brandix, at what is probably one of Manchester's most famous sites, Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United Football Club.

The Centenary Conference will also have an 'Industry Innovative Product Award 2010' which will be presented to the product which is judged during the conference to be most innovative.
